Bat Mitzva?

Some may wonder why we celebrate a Bat Mitzvah...

Though we dont hold to it as law, we follow most traditional and Biblical feasts that are held in Israel, and in Judaism.

The Bat Mitzvah literally translates to "daughter of commandment" and implies "responsible female."
By celebrating we want to bless our child into adulthood and to recognize that they are now old enough and mature enough to study the Word of God and to develop their relationship with the Lord.

A girl will celebrate a year earlier than a boy (boys at 13) as she is more mature, developed than a boy.

Since we are a mixed background family, Jew and Gentile joined as one under Messiah, it is natural for us to celebrate in Israel these feasts and as believers to emphasize where Yeshua is woven into these festivals. In fact Yeshua is shouting out of them, ever done a study on Pesach? You would be amazed. (I'M not talking to everyone here!) :)

My favourite website for putting things into perspective.

The feasts and some of the traditions are so appropriate for where we live, the seasons we go through, and speak of Yeshua so loudly that it is just so RIGHT to celebrate them rather than keep the pagan rooted festivals like Christmas and Easter. Or a 21st. The key to the door? Doesnt make sense but the traditional feasts and Biblical ones do.

So while we dont throw wild parties (like the secular Israel is doing today) or mini-weddings for a Bat Mitzva, we choose rather to bless her, pray for her and guide her into her adulthood.

Bless you Kai!
